For nearly 40 years, Porsche Design has combined aesthetics and well thought-out functionality to create timeless design. The starting point was marked by time itself. Or, to be more exact: by the Chronograph I. In 1972 Prof. F. A. Porsche laid the cornerstone of the Porsche Design Studios with this timepiece – and created the first of many objects which would become groundbreaking classics.

The Chronograph’s special feature: PVD coating, which enabled the creation of the first all-black timepiece. A novelty that quickly made it a worldwide sensation and a constant companion for many racing drivers. Over three decades later, this 70s icon is now being reissued – true to the original.

The Chronograph I not only made an impression on experts and enthusiasts. It initiated the creation of a collection of Porsche Design timepieces that became horological highlights. Including the Worldtimer, a mechanical timepiece that displays two times simultaneously and switches between time zones at the press of a button – without losing a second. And the new Diver, with its movement protected by a hinged container that ensures maximum precision and diving safety. And also the Indicator: a masterpiece made of around 800 individual pieces and handcrafted in 35 days, which features the most complex series-produced movement in the world.
